A lovely  photo of  Mega!

Dasher's Italian Greyhound blog 2026

This WAS the story of Dasher, who we collected from his breeder when he was 9 weeks old in 2009. The latest "happenings" will be put on at the top at frequent intervals, so the story unfolds from the bottom and up! BUT now young Mega has to take over this blog as dearest Dasher passed away in September 2025 - I could see that life had become TOO hard for him and with too much suffering and things wrong with him. So Mega takes over!  There are old videos with Dasher on YouTube, if you search for my YouTube name: sighthounddotnet
Happy reading!

March 13th 2026 and the 18th blog! Now with Mega only.
A lot has happened since January!

Son on a visit gets well loved and kissed!!! I have never known a dog who was so affectionate. They all WANT affection, but for Mega, it is very important to GIVE affection!

We got an even bigger load of snow starting a Thursday evening in middle of February and very windy so it piled up high many places. Below: Looking up my road from my gates.
-
Above: Compare with a month later, the last little bit of snow left! Below, snow in the evening!
.

Above, I manage to clear a narrow path to get out! Below: Looking down the road to the island "before and after" pictures!!!
.

It was 22 cms deep on the patio!
Below: A snowplough drove past clearing the road but throwing everything up on the pavement, so I was blocked off!.

A sunny afternoon!

Mega watches at the gate!

Mega in the back garden! At first he could walk on top of the crusty layer of ice without sinking in! Later, it became impossible.
Below: A wonderful full moon seen early evening from my office window!

Below: Looked after Hugo again! He made a beeline for all the old bones that Mega isn't interested in any more! (They have to be fresh from the packet!) And he chose one to have a good chew on!
.

Above: Mega isn't sure if he can come in with Hugo blocking the back door!
Below: Mega looking beautiful on the sofa with his favourite ball!

An "Italian Greyhound friend" Tove, living in Michigan, very kindly sent me this yellow squeaky ball for Mega! Her dog is wild with hers! Mega does often play with it, but still prefers his bigger canvas balls that also squeak inside.
.-
Looking elegant with his "Tove-bold"! Below, he's mucking about with it!

Below: I had heard a Partridge calling several times, then I was lucky to see it out of a lounge window! Bad photo taken at great distance, but amazing to have such a visitor! (It appears to be living in a neighbour's garden - they have had a pair for many years but not the last two.) It has now seen that I have a "Partridge killer" living with me, so no good it getting ideas of living in MY garden!!!

January 29th 2026
Below, my road on January 26th - a man with a snow plough is great to clear the path early every morning.

But yeaterday morning the machine had obviously broken down, so he cleared later! See my photo below:

Mega HATES to have a coat on and is a real tough guy!

Here he wants a quick game with his much loved ball before lunch!

Mega in a shaft of sunlight in the kitchen!

Mega in another shaft of sunlight! It makes him look so beautiful!
I looked after the neighbour's dog "Hugo" and Mega would SO love a good race around in top gear - but Hugo is not built for speed!!!
.
Below: Mucking about in my office! Hugo just wags his tail! He is very tolerant of "idiot Mega"!
.

A week later and nearly all snow gone, but Mega just HAS to find something interesting in the middle of what's left!!!
He's a tough guy!
-
Luckily, a man clears the snow very early every morning and Mega doesn't seem to notice the salt!

Above: Mega in his "run around the house" very old coat!

A fantastic sunrise at start of January! Looking eastward over the neighbour's house and more snow.

A VERY frosty January morning! Mega wears his "togs for dogs" coat as it is minus degrees.
Below: Sunset over the house, start of January..

Late evening with the first snow!
Below:
It's New Year's Eve and Denmark uses a LOT of VERY noisy fireworks to celebrate and Mega is scared - and without Dasher, (who was nonchalant and didn't care!), Mega has no one to set an example and comfort him, so here he is under my computer desk as I work with a blanket over my knees. He is NOT happy - but didn't stress up like another dog I had once.
